Scar Revisions Q & A

What is scar revision?

The type of scar revision treatment you undergo depends on the type of scar you have and your aesthetic goals. Besides major surgery, there is no such thing as removing stretch marks or scars.  There are minimally invasive procedures to minimize and blend in the scar with your natural skin.

Who is a candidate for scar revision procedures?

Drs. Antonio and Alekseyeva evaluate stretch marks and scars to determine how they can be treated. You may have a surgical scar that healed poorly or developed a raised look. Stretch marks first appear as reddish or purplish lines but fade to white or silver over time.

If you’re bothered by the look of these scars and stretch marks, whether they’re on your abdomen, thighs, buttocks, breasts, or upper arms, you may be a candidate for scar revision.

How is scar revision performed?

Rejuv Gynecology and Obstetrics uses nanofractional radiofrequency via the Venus Versa system to perform scar revision treatments.  During the initial consult, a thorough history and physical along with addressing each individual’s treatment goals is performed. Test sites are performed on the skin to determine how your skin responds to the treatment and if any settings or modifications need to be made.  After 1 week, the test sites are evaluated and the doctor will modify and then perform the treatment based on the test sites. Immediately after the treatment, a recovery serum and bio-occlusive gel are placed on the treatment site. Treatments are repeated every 4-6 weeks and the number of treatments are individualized to each patient.
