What is Perineoplasty:
Perineoplasty is a surgical procedure which tightens the area between the vagina opening and the anus, the perineum. It narrows the vaginal opening.
Why consider Perinoplasty:
Women who have undergone natural childbirth may have torn the perineum or the obstetrician may have performed an episiotomy. The tissue and muscles in this area may have been stretched and or not sewn back correctly causing laxity.
Is Vaginoplasty and Perineoplasty the same?
Although both surgeries are considered vaginal tightening procedures, perineoplasty will narrow the vaginal opening, whereas vaginoplasty tightens the inner muscles of the vaginal canal. Perineoplasty is often performed as a combination procedure with vaginoplasty.
The average recovery time after perineoplasty is 6 to 8 weeks. You may not do any heavy lifting for the first 3 weeks or engage in sexual intercourse for at least 6 weeks.
